Does Drudge Know Anything About South Park?
I'm not linking because it's just a "flash" on Drudge's site...
FLASH: The current version of the PARAMOUNT film TEAM AMERICA is a guaranteed NC-17, with surprisingly graphic scenes of puppet sex...
What I want to know is, why is this a "Flash"? I don't watch television and even I know that the makers of South Park are going to come up with over the top stories like this. Sheesh, Drudge, c'mon! These guys push the edge on cable tv - the fact that they would go even farther at the movie theater shouldn't even raise an eyebrow. You don't want to watch it, don't go to the movie.
I won't be going to this movie either, but I rarely go to any movies, so that's not surprising. You know, I could understand all the hoopla if they were going to show this at 6pm on NBC or something like that, but a movie... that will likely be rated NC-17... at the theater??? I'm at a loss here.

I wouldn't write off "Team America: World Police" just yet. Michael Moore, Hollywood leftists and MSM pundits are said to be the butts of most of the jokes.
The South Park Empire Strikes Back?

LOL - I wasn't thinking about the actual storyline of the movie, which I had heard was poking lots of fun at Moore et al. I was just at a loss to understand how people can think the creators of South Park would make a nice, warm, fuzzy movie that your 6 year old could see. *grin* Not their style at all. I mean their television show is a cartoon! I'm assuming it's the use of puppets with an adult content that has people riled.

Heh. Puppet sex :-)
I'm just surprised that it's NC-17. I would've figured R easily, but NC-17?
I just hope that doesn't hurt the box office too much.

The Big MM - Even Slimier Than I Thought
At some point Michael Moore must surely hit bottom. There must be a point where he's about as low as you can get on a human scale... Well, I just found out that, at least for me, he has sunk beneath the human scale.
G.I. pans '9/11' role
It seems that Moore, not being content to malign the Bush administration using those who agree with him, has added to his movie F**** 9/11 that.... well, read this:
WASHINGTON - Sgt. Peter Damon, who lost his right arm and left hand in Iraq, never set out to be a bit player in presidential politics and is furious at Michael Moore for making him one in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
"It ticked me off," Damon said of the 10-second clip in the Bush-bashing documentary that shows him being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
This is unconscionable, he is being used in a movie that denigrates his service, without his permission! The fact that they (like all liberals) want to split hairs... oh we LOVE the military, but HATE the war... what utter rubbish! I hear this from radio announcers all the time and it just makes my blood boil. (I would likely be incandescent if I watched television)
So how do you get around the pesky little detail of permission?
The brief video clip of Damon used by Moore was licensed from an NBC News segment that focused on the treatment of amputees at Walter Reed using a new regimen to block the excruciating "phantom pain" of limb loss, in which the patient still feels the pain of the missing limb.
Yeah, that's right, find a clip that someone else did, for an entirely different purpose, and subvert this to make a completely different point.
Naturally, the news people can't stop there, they have to find another opinion using that most sympathetic of all characters, a mother who has lost her son in Iraq...
Lila Lipscomb, whose own appearances in the documentary are the emotional apex of "Fahrenheit 9/11," said she sympathized with Damon's distress, but disagreed with him on Moore's motives.
Ummm - I'm sorry for this mother, but she is NOT a soldier, so she should NOT be speaking for them. I have a son who is a soldier too - I still wouldn't speak for them.
In the end - any soldier Moore was going to portray in this film, should have had the option of saying yes or no themselves. They should never have been added at Moore's whim to support his twisted view of the War on Terror. For that alone, MM is less than a stain on the sidewalk left by a low flying duck.

I resent that remark! How dare you even mention Michael Moore in the same sentence as my stains!
Quack!

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. If President Bush can use the images of dead firemen being carried away from Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks without asking permission from the family of the dead or the living firemen having to perform that sad duty, then Michael Moore should be able to use images in the same way.
I don't support Michael Moore or agree with his tactics, but if we're going to say it's OK for one, it has to be OK for all.

Um - Jack - I never said I endorsed the commercials that the Bush campaign was using. Not in this post, not in any other - at least that I remember...
If an image of a person - living or dead - is going to be used to promote something, then the person in question (or their remaining family) should have the option of saying yes or no.
Did I blog on the Bush commercial? No, but then I don't get around to blogging about everything. Sometimes it's lack of interest, sometimes lack of time, sometimes lack of correct wording. Mostly it's lack of time.
There's also the fact that personally I find MM to be one of the more repellent people on the face of the earth. This means my tolerance factor for his idiocies is very low. So, there you go, I am certainly not an impartial blogger. *grin*

I hope this soldier is somehow able to sue this man. I hope he didn't waive away all his rights when he was videotaped. 2 companies have already initiated lawsuits against Moore for using their work product without permission. I hope they Win every penny of the 150Mil is profited so far!

Bullitt... I didn't enjoy the dialogue, the plot, or the pacing.
But the chase scene was COOL :-)

I saw Bullitt in a German Movie Theater in a town in Bavaria. The day after the movie, some nutbar painted the word "Bullitt" on his VW Beetle and proceeded to drive all over the town like a farookin' maniac.
I hope, for the guy's sake, he didn't see the movie "Superman."
