Da Hits Da Hits

Best part about post-blog meet?  For a few days I actually get over 100 hits instead of my usual 30-60 a day.  I like to enjoy these little things while they last.

Ready for Halloween?

Erica and SWMBO were really into the Halloween spirit when we met at Eric's.  Erica had the stylin' belt and SWMBO had lovely fingernail art  See:

Of course she had spiders on the other finger which caused a bit of confusion when she had an actual spider appear on her leg...

It was all about the nails this weekend.  Oddy had little candy corns painted on her toenails.  I remembered this when I saw a piece of candy corn laying on the floor at the airport and suddenly realized I never took a picture of her tootsies (don't think I had my camera with me when she mentioned it).

Pictures say it all.  I must keep my camera with me.

Time Warp

On the bus headed to Logan. The bus date/time said it's November 5, 1989. So if you don't see me again, you'll know why.

It took me forever, but I finally got my pictures with commentary posted to Smugmug (or some of them) from our trip to the Collings Foundation Museum that I mentioned the other day.

This was reenactment day.  They had Allies and Axis groups complete with uniforms and all the stuff that goes with military camping.  It was very well done.

I wish we could have gone to both days because they had different battles each day.  But I was glad to have seen at least one of them.  We were very impressed with the amount of coordination between the groups to pull it off.  It's not easy!  It's not just men, but guns, tanks, half tracks, planes... all in all it was a great show!

I may post more pics later, but I had enough trouble getting these fixed up and loaded.  I hope they are good enough to give you an idea of the place.  It's really quite fascinating.

Once you've seen the pics, you might want to check them out online.  They do have a "Wings of Freedom" tour that might stop near you.

Headed to Chicago

It's a 4 day weekend.  Going to spend time with the kidlets and hopefully have some fun.  No computer though - just my Blackberry.  At the  rate I've been browsing lately - I may get to more blogs via my BB than I do with my regular computer.

Headlines - We've Got Headlines

Because some of these really cry out for me to make fun of them:

Could they make this sound any more ominous? The article isn't at all - but the headline... oh the headline... filled with menace:

Gas prices could slide below $3

You can simply see the disappointment oozing from this one - how DARE they disappoint the news consuming public! Bloody pirates!

Pirates Release Ship, Do Not Destroy Another as Promised

This is a headline? After the last few weeks? Really? We are supposed to be surprised?

Federal Budget Deficit Hits Record High

(psst... news dudes... the surprise and headline would be if there was a treasury surplus - deficit is not a story - not this week)

Did someone put Viagra in cans of spam? That's what it sounds like. So if you enjoy a bit of spam on crackers...watch out!

Big Viagra spam bust

Because, the poor guy just needs one more chance to prove he's not really so bad. There have only been 12 other incidents and by golly they aren't gonna pay him for these 4 games - that'll show him!

Pacman suspended at least 4 games for violating conduct policy

And let's close with a little snippet instead of a headline because the wording...oh my yes... the wording is hilarious:

Kids from newborns to teenagers should take twice as much Vitamin D as previously recommended because it may help prevent serious disease, a leading medical group said yesterday.

Note the word "may" in the middle of that sentence. I also get a kick out of "leading medical group".  Now note my prediction: There will be a complete about face on this call for more Vitamin D in the next 5 years.

Of course the next bit is even funnier:

The new recommendation came from the American Academy of Pediatrics. A pediatrician is a doctor who takes care of kids.

I think this is aimed at the very people AWTM has been meeting over at the local school.  I could be wrong, but I don't think so.  And I am also uncharitable enough to laugh a them.

Ah yes, humor.  Some days it's just sitting there staring at you from the headlines.

Good night all.

Let's All Join Suldog!

Once again it's into the fray

You may recall - with fondness, it is hoped - this semi-Quixotic campaign from last year. At that time, I had become fed up with early Christmas advertising, and so I railed against it in this space. I was pleasantly surprised by how many folks felt the same as I did, as well as tremendously gratified when most of them tried to do something to help the cause.

Well, here we go again.

Go read the rest!  Join us in the fight to

Keep Thanksgiving First!

It's my favorite holiday and I like celebrating it without having it trampled by Christmas.  Nothing is special when it's overhyped.

So, help the cause, join us in keeping Thanksgiving free of Christmas and making Christmas special again!

We thank you for your support.
