Forecast Goodness

I have this little gadget on my homepage called Live Weather.  It gives you the current temp with a mini-forecast from Weather Bug.

Friday's forecast says:

Rain in the morning...then showers in the afternoon.

Description brought to you by Rob McKenna - Rain God from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (for the clouds want "to be near Him, to love Him, to cherish Him and to water Him")

Time for Headlines!

We aim to keep YOU informed. Also, we're tired and can't think of anything else to blog.

Let's start here:

Senators Express Reservations on Bailout

Obviously the people trying to get this measure passed have failed... FAILED... to give the Senators a cut of the action.

****

Goldman to Raise $7.5 Billion From Berkshire, Public (Update1)

Do you think if I told Berkshire that I needed a bailout, they would give me a few hundred thou? I'm not even gonna ask for a mil much less a bil.

****

McCain Aide’s Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac

As opposed to Barack Obama who was paid directly.

****

LHC shut down until early spring

Sadly, many a black hole will never have a chance to spring into being because of this. And yes, we will have to figure out the financial stuff because the world is not ending until 2009.

*****
Clay Aiken to reveal he is gay

You mean he hasn't yet? What if he reneges and says "No I'm not, what are you talking about!"

Whatever.  Now - I have to ask

Why should I care one way or the other. I don't think he'll be asking me for a date so that ends any interest I have in the matter (other than the hilariously stupid headline) - should I even mention that I'm not really sure who he is...

****

Google's anti i-Phone

Because Google's all about your computing diversity... Right.

***

Well, that's it.  You are now informed.  Use your new found knowledge to impress all your friends and family.

Do You Take A Breath Between Bites?

I was over at Bou's reading about how fast she eats...

Is this a Mom thing? Eat quickly before someone needs you… you get to eat hot food then?

Well, maybe.  I know I used to eat pretty fast, I've slowed down somewhat (intentionally really) to make sure I don't eat too much.  But that's another story.

Her post reminded me of one of my son's visits home on leave.

He was in Chicago with his sister and they went out to a local restaurant for dinner along with one or two other friends of hers.  As she tells it:

"Your son ordered a huge hamburger.  The waiter came out with the food, gave everyone their plate and then left to go get a bottle of ketchup for the burgers.  As he walked back to the table with the ketchup, the boy put the last bite of hamburger in his mouth."

Personally I wonder if he chews or just tears off chunks and swallows.

Anyhow, I was thinking it would be hilarious to have a contest between Bou and him to see who can finish first.  My money is on the boy.  He had basic training to ingrain that idea of eat fast or else...

Headlines

When you can't think of anything to blog - there are always headlines.

******

One in seven Britons seen bullied at work

Is anyone surprised that there is bullying in a country where you can be arrested for defending yourself?

*****
Illinois delegates chided for poor organization

You mean they're just now noticing? Talk about obtuse!

*****

Michael Moore to release free documentary on Web

Now he won't have to have things like box office receipts showing that no one was the least bit interested in hearing his take on voting.

******
Spore is More: Build Your Own Alien at Home

I don't do video games, but it might be rather fun to have my own alien. Of course, if it's built on Earth can it really be an alien?

Never mind.

*****
Angry Argentine commuters torch train in rush hour

That's the way to make the service speed up.

****

And there you have it, your news of the day.  I feel so much smarter now.  How about you?
