I Should Pay More Attention

Sunday morning is my usual day for grocery shopping.  As a rule, I know approximately what it is I want.  I get in, grab the food, and get out as quickly, painlessly, and non-interactively as possible.

As this is a bit lengthy - the rest is below the fold for those who would prefer to skip it.

Happy Birthday

To the momma of Big Stupid Tommy. Now, head over and read his post:

Ten Things that are True about my Mother

(blogspot is acting funky for me, so you might have to scroll down to get to the post...)

My favorite is number 7 which had me about falling off my chair laughing... but really number 8 makes me want to be just like her.

Because I'd Prefer My Top Post to be More Fun and Less... Annoying

Unless you find these kind of things annoying.  OTOH I'm not tagging anyone.  You may all rest easy.  Saw a different version over at LeeAnn's, then got tagged on Facebook - so I'm posting it in both places.  (because I can)

Soundtrack of My Life

So here's how it works...
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc).
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For the first question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button TWICE.
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...just type it in man!

(I should note here, my music collection is minuscule compared to most people... really...only 309 songs)

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

Opening Credits:
Commissioning a Symphony in C by Cake

Waking Up:
Lazy Bones by Hoagy Carmichael

First Day at School:
Kid by The Pretenders

Falling in Love:
Love of My Life by Santana Feat, Dave Matthews

Losing Virginity:
Blue Angel by Roy Orbison

Fight Song:
Miniature Disasters by KT Tunstall

Breaking Up:
Uneasy Rider by The Charlie Daniels Band

Prom:
Could I Be You by Matchbox Twenty

Life:
New Blue Moon by The Traveling Wilburys

Mental Breakdown:
Winter: Largo (Vivaldi) by The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

Driving:
Satellite by Smash Mouth

Flashback:
Back Yard Blues by Oscar Peterson

Getting Back Together:
Through the Dark by KT Tunstall

Wedding:
Diablo Rojo by Rodrigo Y Gabriella

Birth of Child:
Home Now by No Doubt

Final Battle:
Getcha Some by Toby Keith

Death Scene:
The One That Got Away by Pink

So... you got a soundtrack?

Blago - The Never Ending Comedy Show

Oh yes, Old Roddy boy (the former Boy Gov of IL) is now trying to fight his upcoming court case in the media before he ever gets in front of a jury (tainted jury pool anyone?). So he's making the rounds of the radio and television talk shows.

Eric Zorn has the hilarious outtakes from an appearance on WLS radio. Best bit?

And, again, it’s the average guy in the neighborhood who’s getting screwed as they drive around, you know, working neighborhoods in Jaguars pretending to be on the side of the people.

I read that and I have to say it's the most hilarious thing I've read in ages.  This from the man who was flying back and forth to work...

Lawmakers typically meet in Springfield three days a week, and Blagojevich has been flying to Springfield each day. If he arrived at the start of each week's session and stayed at the Executive Mansion until the end, the cost of his flights would be about two-thirds less.[emph mine --ed]

The cost of his flights between May 22nd and June 7th of 2007  were $52,000+. Remember this guy had been governor since 2003!  At that rate he could buy a fleet of Jags and drivers and still spend less tax money.

Should we mention the Tollway signs he had put up with his name and picture all over them at a cost of $480,000? (which would have to be changed when his term ended in any case!) And the $15,000 to get rid of them?

That's Roddy boy, always looking out for the people of the state.  Watching those pennies so the working stiff doesn't have to pay more taxes...

I guess he figured no one would notice if he didn't actually fly the planes through the neighborhoods.

Best In Show

My sister tells me I have got to make the trip to NYC one day and see the Westminster Dog Show - not just any part of it though - the Best in Show judging.

Of course if you've seen the movie, that makes it all the better.

But the best reason of all to see it...

PETA hates it.

There was an hour-long protest outside the Garden by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, with two members dressed up as Ku Klux Klan members. PETA claims the American Kennel Club's promotion of purebred dogs is harmful to their health.

Good grief!

Yes indeed I think that's the best reason of all to support the show.
