My friend who had the heart attack that is.  I meant to post this last night... just like I meant to call her today.  Somehow, I didn't manage to do either one.  It seems I can't quite get my entire act together.

In any case, the doctors decided she was doing well enough to leave the hospital. Yay!  She sent me an email earlier today thanking everyone for their well wishes and prayers.

I just got an update on my friend who had the heart attack.  She's still in the hospital. Apparently she's having some pain and they want to do more tests. 

Well, if she's in the hospital, she might not be getting any sleep, but at least she won't be trying to do anything else either!  Because we all know how it is when we've been away from home, no matter the reason.  As soon as you get back, you see all the stuff that needs to be done.  Especially when you aren't supposed to do anything! 

Anyhow, things are okay, but I was really hoping she could go home today where she could get some rest... no one can rest in a hospital.

1 On the other hand, she may be getting a different sort of rest.  I went to the ER with chest pain 7 years ago and they finally admitted me.  Couldn't find anything wrong, said there had been no heart attack.  But kept me three days, during which I just laid there.  But ya know, my mind was finally peaceful.  I didn't have 20 things a second to think about, and was being cared for instead of caring for everyone/thing else.
I relaxed. 

If she can afford the stay, a few days in hospital may be a relief of sorts.  Just sayin', it doesn't take a spa to unwind. 

I'm glad she's there while still having pain.  Hopefully they can get her sorted out and back on the road!

In a lighter mood, if I may: I had a chest pain years and years ago and they did that stress test and then announced that my heart would actually have to be removed and beaten on the concrete with a ballpeen hammer, POST MORTEM. Makes no sense, I know, but I think it was their way of telling me I was OK. They never did figure out the "pain." Could been gas. Deep-fried bean burritos will do that to me.

4 I am so glad that even with lack of sleep they are on top of her care.  To many women don't have their symptoms taken seriously until it's too late...

5 Rich - my first thought when I heard the diagnosis was "thank heaven they looked at her heart and didn't just shrug it off!"

I think there's been a push on about women and heart disease, so the docs are thinking about it - if they think about it they tend to catch it when it shows up in the ER.

Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of woman. It kills MORE women than men.  By age 75, 85% of all women have cardiovascular disease... while 73% of men do. 

Meanwhile, only 1 in 8 doctors know this.  How damn scary is that?  By age 50, nearly 50% of all women have cardiovascular disease.  And only 1 in 8 doctors KNOW that more women will die of it then men.

I am so glad,  that her doctor took is seriously.  I have been having some issues and before my doctor would look into anything else, I had heart tests done including a heart ultrasound.  At the time, I rolled my eyes, knowing it was digestive.  Now?  I thank God he is the 1 in 8...

I hope she is better soon.  I'm so glad someone was on top of things...

I just got word that a good friend has had a heart attack.  Not much word on the severity yet.  She's not a blogger, but is a dear friend that I have known online for years and met in person. 

She's 50.  She wasn't feeling well, shortness of breath, pain in her left shoulder.  She kept saying she'd be okay, it would pass. She's the kind of person who takes care of everyone else and leaves herself for last. I know, without being told, she wouldn't want to see a doctor because there is always so much to do.

Luckily her brother insisted she go to the ER. 

Now she's being transported to another hospital.  Her husband and brother follow the ambulance.  Her friends pray.
