Thinking I Should Post This
I keep emailing this link to people and then I just found myself posting it in the comments over at Erica's place. I shook my head and thought - why don't I post it on my blog? Ha. Shows you how much I've been thinking about blogging lately...
Anyhow, back when I was taking tai chi classes, we did many different mediations, but the basic meditation was called "observing the breath". You just concentrate on your breathing - that's it. Kanani has posted a link to a most excellent 5 minute vid using this basic meditation but only for one minute at a time! I love it. Plus - the man who developed this, Martin Boronson, stays well away from all the touchy-feely and quasi-religious junk that generally comes around with any kind of meditation.
I highly highly recommend you hit the link and watch the vid. It's quick and painless I promise. (although I admit to wanting to sneak a peak during the minute he does for meditation to see if his cartoon guy is making faces or something - LOL) If you find it helps you that is fantastic. If it doesn't, well it wasn't too awful of a way to spend 5 minutes now was it.
I also bought his book (because I have a kindle - I love my kindle). And contrary to his instructions, I read ahead. heh. I may never get to the end point of the moment meditation... but it gives me some methods to consider. Interesting stuff when it's done right.

I loved it. And I totally peeked, but I still felt OK when the minute was up.

I tried to focus on my breathing and calmly go "hmm" when distracted but of course distraction happened within the first 5 seconds. It was this gawdawful loud gurgle my stomach did. It was like my stomach went, "Gurgle!" and then I went "hmm" like "thanks for sharing, stomach," but then my stomach sassed back, "I SAID GURGLE!" and it just got louder and more weird. The weirdest friggin' noises you can imagine. Like curly-qs and backflips and twisted squeals of bile or something.
