It's Victory In Iraq Day!

Happy VI Day to everyone.

I'm pretty sure this is the ONLY recognition that will be given to our troops for their excellent work in completely routing the enemy in Iraq.

Thank you to all the military out there who have worked so very hard to bring this about.

Valor IT - Pass the Word

What have we raised so far?

$14,997

Not nearly enough!

For anyone new stumbling across this post, I'm sure you'll want to know: who is raising this money and why, how do you know it's a good cause?  Well, here's the deal via the Soldier's Angels Valor-IT page. Check it out.

It's a tough year for everyone. People are out of work, they're cutting back. It's understandable. You have to take care of your family and yourself.

We are not reaching for the unreachable star! We can do this.

$240,000 total

It can be accomplished. It's just that we will need more people giving just a little to get there.

What started out as voice activated laptops for injured troops has expanded:

In the years since its founding in 2005, the project has acted to meet emerging needs and its mission of supporting the the severely wounded has expanded. In addition to voice-controlled laptops, Valour-IT now helps provide active and whole-body video games such as Wii Sports, which is used to great effect in physical therapy, and personal GPS systems that help compensate for short-term memory loss and organizational/spacial challenges common in those with brain injuries.

These are men and women who have volunteered to serve and protect our country. Their monetary compensation is tiny in comparison to the jobs they perform and the risks they take.

Let's step up and help them. It doesn't take much if everyone chips in. Who do you know? Can they make a donation of even $5? Do they have a family member who served?

If they don't want to donate via the Army Team (of course I'm partial to the Army)

Then check out the other teams or even give a gift independently. This is all about helping the injured troops.

Pass it on!

Project Valor-IT

It's the Valor-IT fundraiser!

From now until November 27th (Thanksgiving) we're gonna raise some money...

If you haven't heard of Valor-IT here's a quick overview:

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Technology supplied includes:

See the rest over here at Soldier's Angel's Valor-IT site. Get the rest of the story and find out how you can help those who have given so much to defend our country!

Of course you could donate with any of the services, but why go anywhere else when you can help the Army win.

Update: okay looks like I've got it, let's try this button... or the button below.  Thank you!

It's Veteran's Day

Find a Veteran and thank them.  To all my Veteran readers - adding my small thanks today.  We can't say it often enough.

Update:  Matt has once again posted one of my favorite videos, Free by Staff Sgt Dean.  If you haven't heard it, listen to it. If you have heard it, listen to it again.  Then check out his other Veterans Day posts.
