Oh Goodie

Looks like some nasty spammer is going around leaving comments in other people's names.  *sigh*.

Joanie has a post about it. Apparently I'm one of the people who is being spoofed.  How fun... and gives others such a wonderful impression at Christmas time.

So, if you receive a weird comment from me, you may want to check where it's coming from... otherwise you could email and ask me what the hell I'm thinking.

Just what we need, someone going around leaving stupid ass comments in other people's names.  Merry Christmas. *sigh*

Thanks to Erica for letting me know.

1 It's extremely problematic, because if somebody doesn't know about the whole spoofing crap, they might assume the worst, if the comment is particularly venomous.

A few of the comments -- mostly because they sounded as if they were written by an incoherent putz who was maybe clubbed a little too hard on the head -- were moderately humorous [to me], but the overriding factor is that it's evil, and it needs to stop ASAP before I murder its ass.

I've little compunction about doing so at this point.

3 You mean you're not the one who sent me the Chinese dog penis enhancement pill advert? ;-)

4 It's been going on since late October, actually. And it left vile and threatening comments on my site. I deleted the comments, but kept the evidence. The more I deleted, the nastier it got.

I plan to forward the IPs to Level3.net for prosecution.

When I put comment restrictions on, it chided me for that. When I put word veri on, it stopped altogether, so go figure. But I won't let threats about me or my family stand, whether bot or human.

Thanks for passing the word!

Hope your Christmas was merry and that we all have a spam-free New Year!

5 I've seen a few over these past couple of days - one was purportedly from you, but the IP was, of course, wrong.  Nothing venomous, just...a little off.

It's amazing what one jackoff with a computer can do, eh?
