24 - Jumps the Shark and Lands on a Whale

None of this is fit for above the fold... sad but true. Watching 24 has become like watching a slow motion train wreck. Every time I think things have gotten as bad as they can get - I'm so wrong.

*I must stop here and heave a heavy sigh in mourning for the show it might have been*

I think what we have here is General Hospital meets The Edge of Night. It's all soap all the time. I stopped watching soaps way back when I was about 12 years old. (one of my friends insisted I watch her "stories" with her one summer... we faithfully tuned in daily... then school returned and since this was far and away prior to VCR's I didn't see any of the shows again until the next summer... when I tuned in to find they were doing exactly the same thing nearly a year later... I tuned out and never watched again)

What we have, in no particular order, (because really it doesn't matter) are the following idiocies. Warning reading this may make your hands stick to the keyboard... it's that treacly...

-- Nadia is proven innocent of spying and released back to work... Milo grabs her and kisses her in the hallway (wonder if she'll sue for sexual harassment)

-- a double crosser who is with Doyle tries to get Doyle into trouble for withholding evidence... unfortunately for the sneaky slime, Doyle gave the evidence to Morris.

-- it appears Morris is ready to jump in and help Doyle, even though Doyle was just strangling him a couple of hours ago.

-- meanwhile back at the bunker - Karen thinks she can solve all the problems with the Veep if she makes the doctors rouse the President from his coma.

-- eye bleeding scene with the President's sister and Karen as she talks her into allowing them to wake up big bro.

-- the Veep is getting nuttier by the minute, and appears ready to become dictator for life just so he can nuke the Mid-East.

-- dweeby Lennox still doesn't have the balls to stand up to the Veep and tell him to back off on the bombing... he just stands around with his mouth hanging open like a fish.

-- not a single military guy has chimed in to ask the Veep what he plans to do once he does drop the bomb. Like where do you want the military positioned? This is apparently not a concern as long as the Veep can unload the "Big One"

-- meanwhile yet another person is selling information to the bad guys. Jack finds out who it is and goes to get him. This dude has a brother who is a Savant (computers being his specialty)... well of course.

-- they finally get Gredenko and Jack is about to interrogate him.

-- and the Veep is still going to launch the missiles... except that lo and behold - the President has awakened from his 45 minute coma. He's fully back to normal and ready to go back to work.

That's enough - I can't even stand to write any more. It's all garbage from the Veep acting like he's king of the world to Chloe telling Milo "it's pretty obvious how you feel about Nadia".... HOLY CRAP! Can't Chloe at least have something better to do than act like she's in high school...

They're trying to make the show "balanced" and what they've done is turn it into a mish-mash of nonsense. The ultra libs are idiots, the ultra conservatives are idiots, everyone is trying to back stab everyone else. And for some reason this group of teens in heat think they can save the world. I don't see why. Apparently there isn't a complete brain among the lot of them. That includes Jack and Chloe.

I won't be watching next season. But for the rest of this season - we'll watch the whole thing crumble. I wonder how far they'll go. This year will likely end with a group hug as the Veep sets off the last nuke... just to show us how bad the bad guys are. Sheesh!

1 I am SOOO dissapointed by this season. It's a complete mess!

Although, while watching last night, Bou, Mo and I made the comment that Jack is good with animals, kids and now the retarded.

2 "not a single military guy has chimed in to ask the Veep what he plans to do once he does drop the bomb"

Heh. He has no plan. The Democrats will eat him alive for that :-)
