CTU We Have a Problem...

Isn't that what you say when you find a nuke? We have 2 full hours of 24 fun and games... but below the fold for those who could care less or those who are waiting to see the show on DVD. Let's get a couple of things clear right now... Jack's daddy needs to die at the end of this season. He needs to die in a seriously horrible way. Second, if you're going to sell something to a terrorist who has already set off one nuke, why do you think they will pay you instead of kill you? Third, always trust Jack...

This is why my eyes cross after 2 hours of 24 - there's too much ridiculous stuff going on and it makes my head spin.

First I'm seriously disappointed with Morris for not figuring out a way to program a bug in the detonation code so the suitcase nukes won't go off. It was kinda weird how he was okay while they were beating him up, but he freaked out when the terrorist killed the idiot woman who brought him in for the money. But let's stop for a minute an talk about the idiot woman who was trying to get rich quick.

The girl friend of the man who had been dealing with Fayed. She kills off the boyfriend thinking she can get the entire 7 million for herself. It is quite apparent she was completely oblivious to several things. First - she's a woman... like these guys would deal with a woman at all - please. Second, why should they pay once they have what they want? Cause she'll bad mouth them if they don't? Right - that'll strike terror into their hearts. Geeze! Talk about someone who was TSTL.

Then when CTU finds Fayed and company, Fayed still manages to escape. Is there anyone that CTU can actually keep from escaping? They are seriously inept it seems. Also, they can trace cars all over the place using satellites... but they can't trace a helicopter? Oh come on! Plus there was just a nuke attack on LA, yet the FAA can't figure out where the helicopter went with Fayed? Is the entire world incompetent. While few storylines actually hold together in this show, 24 is generally slightly better at reasoning this kind of stuff.

Now, let us get to one thing about the nuke that Jack finds (Fayed left behind - armed and ready to go off). After Jack and Chloe disarm the thing, Jack tells them it's all over... the bomb is not going to go off. I think he forgot that the only reason it's not blowing up is because he stuck a pen between the connectors on the detonator. That is not the same as disarmed! Holy crap.

Why can Jack's father wander around CTU, have access to his son's belongings all without anyone even caring! How is it that CTU didn't even think about Graem's cell phone and what numbers might be useful in it?

Now we come to Chloe, who nearly has a meltdown when Morris is kidnapped. Give her a few minutes though and she's got herself under control again. I adore Chloe, she and Jack should be together. They understand each other very well. She also managed to get tough with Morris and tell him to stop feeling sorry for himself and get back to work to help Jack. Go Chloe!

Meanwhile back in DC... as I thought, there is a plot underway to off the Pres. His chief aide is now in on it, the weasel! Him and his aide and some unknown Congressman. They want the Veep in charge and all Muslims in concentration camps. Why they are so certain their plan will work over the President's plan to call for help among the Muslim community is anyone's guess.

The original terrorist guy has finally made it to DC and the Pres is getting rough with him about cooperating for peace. Too bad he isn't always so straightforward and clear with his own staff. Up until his ultimatum to the terrorist dude (whose name I don't remember right now) he's been pretty wishy-washy.

Now back to CTU where Graem's widow may hold the key to a new player in the background. A Russian who supposedly was the one to hand over the nukes in the first place. She followed her hubby to a meeting place and Jack wants her to remember where it is. You could nearly write the script yourself from that point - Jack's daddy takes his grandson "home". Once he's out of CTU he calls her on her cell while she's in the car with Jack. Daddy has a surprise for Jack. (such a sweet guy)

I think her name is Katherine... anyhow Daddy tells her that her son will die unless she takes Jack to a special address. Instead of telling Jack about it, she takes the team to a house that blows up... (what did she think would happen... another idiot woman). The big surprise was Milo - the sappy looking guy who usually works with Chloe, he grabs Katherine and keeps her from being kidnapped by Daddy's boys with guns. He drives like a maniac (woohoo!!! action) and then blows up the van to cover their escape. Good for him! I didn't know he had it in him.

Next week we have scenes of the grandson finally figuring out that grandpa ain't a sweet old guy.

1 I think the season really started for me when Blondie capped McCarthy. From there on it was a roller coaster ride... and it seems that Jack really IS back. And I loved how he defended his actions... "I told you I wasn't ready for this..."

Can't wait til Daddy is outted!

And what kind of a 'company' does Daddy have that allows him to have just as many specialized teams as CTU? Something powerful... Maybe we should start calling him Dr. Evil...

I knew Chloe would go in and tell Morris to stop feeling sorry for himself. That's her in a nutshell... Too bad you're hurt, we have work to do! I love her.
