It works. I don't say the cat will enjoy the experience (howls & mournful cries ensue) but it works. Comes in handy, sometimes.

Doesn't work on one of my cats because she weighs 16 pounds and her scruff is too blubbery to get the clip to stay on.

LOL - Harvey, my daughter has 2 cats that are over 15 pounds, but they are so big, they aren't fat! I have no idea if this would work on them or not. Pretty useful if it did

We have four cats, two very large and two small. I will have to remember this for emergencies as a temporary way of being able to immobilize one of them in order to get them into the cat crate for a trip to the Vet's office. I don't know about anyone else, but that kind of chore requires 6 pairs of hands... At least for me.

Yes, that's pretty much how I figured it might be used... if it works. Then again I don't have cats.
